Michael Biagiotti is a Long Beach artist originally from Long Island, NY, who moved to Southern California when he was 9 years old. Growing up in Orange County, surfing and skateboarding were amongst his passions that pushed him into the counterculture world. He graduated from Pepperdine University (Malibu, CA) with a BA in advertising. Afterward he lived in Los Angeles, performing with his band in small clubs and participating in underground art shows. All of this helped shape his art into what it is today. His current work captures the spirit of urban coastal life through use of photography and abstract watercolor & ink. The images are usually juxtaposed side by side, then mounted in handmade, rustic frames, and finally coated with resin. He moved to Long Beach in 2008 and eventually created his brand… O.I.L. Beach, which stands for “Only in Long Beach”. This continues the feel of his art with merchandise conveying the urban/beach/car culture that is part of the Long Beach/Southern California lifestyle.
